Author Interview: Amit Goswami, the Spiritual Scientist

Is it possible that we have the power to transform ourselves through science? Are science and the soul incompatible?

Dr. Amit Goswami, author of The Self-Aware Universe, doesn’t think so. By combining his extensive knowledge of Quantum mechanics with a deep-rooted belief in the power of the self to achieve our goals, he takes us on a powerful journey of emotional enlightenment.

An author interview with Dr. Amit Goswami

Amit Goswami

Join me and Dr. Goswami as we discuss the relationship between Quantum Activism and consciousness, and explore his concepts of Quantum consciousness and how it can help us to reach a better understanding of ourselves.

Instead of adhering to the common belief that science and spirituality are separate academic paths, Dr. Goswami strongly advocates a union between the two. By using our knowledge of science and hard fact to inform our emotional and spiritual well being, he suggests we can harness the power of one to unleash the untapped potential of the other. Creativity, emotional well-being and personal achievement can all be enhanced by applying the rigor of scientific enquiry in to the mix.

My interview with Dr. Goswami shows  a fresh viewpoint when it comes to the cohesion between science and the arts. Find out more about Dr. Goswami, who he is and why he chose to develop this new strand of science.

About Dr. Amit Goswami

Dr. Goswami runs a site which introduces the concept of Quantum Activism – the idea of changing ourselves and our societies in accordance with the principles of quantum physics.

The Center for Quantum Activism seeks to educate, support and facilitate the transformation from the current materialist worldview to one based on the primacy of consciousness.

Dr. Goswami has written a series of books including The Self-Aware Universe, God Is Not Dead: What Quantum Physics Tells Us about Our Origins and The Quantum Doctor: A Physicist’s Guide to Health and Healing. He has also produced a DVD called The Quantum Activist, which details the methodology behind combining scientific thought and spiritual belief.

Dr. Goswami is a retired professor from the theoretical physics department of the University of Oregon in Eugene, where he had served since 1968. He is a pioneer of the new paradigm of science called “science within consciousness”.

In his private life, Dr. Goswami is a practitioner of spirituality and transformation. He calls himself a quantum activist. He appeared in the film “What the Bleep Do We Know“, “The Dalai Lama Renaissance“, and the “The Quantum Activist“.

  1. Dr. Goswami -

This was a fascinating interview and I agree with everything you said.

I do believe in the survival of the spirit by what ever name you call it. Memory. Creativity. Imprint.

    My question is -

WHO DECIDES WHEN YOU COME BACK TO DO FURTHER WORK ON THE EARTH PLANE?

I realize that Michelle cannot pick your entire brain in a half hour.

But if you have time -

    Would you address that question?

    • Michelle Vandepas says:

Corinne, I’ve asked Dr. Goswami to come answer the questions and comments – he travels a lot and I’m not sure when he’ll get back here, but I have follow up questions as well..

  2. William Swan says:

I wish people were not so afraid of using the word God. When we get past fear in the mind (from believing we were conceived in sin) then we can begin giving credit where credit is due.

  3. Cynthia Doty says:

Thank you for a thoughtful and intriquing discussion of the intersections between science, spirituality, consciousness, and learning. I found the concept that a lifetime of learning is not lost as a consequence of death, though somewhat complex to understand, was both personally and generationally, encouraging and hopeful.

  4. This interview was very interesting. Gives me a lot to think about. Thanks. I believe that our creativity does come from God.

    • Michelle Vandepas says:

Patricia, I am most creative when I’ve spent time outside, in meditation, after long walks or camping – all of which also lead me closer to God. I agree!

  5. Langdon Foss says:

    This was a terrific conversation.

I’m most intrigued by Dr. Goswami’s claim that his concept of the Quantum Monad (by my understanding, the principle that the fundamental patterns that define our selves are sub-local phenomena, and are therefore compatible with the idea of reincarnation) is backed up, or even demanded by quantum theory. I wonder what part of quantum theory speaks to this, and where I can learn more about it?

  6. Michelle Vandepas says:

I still go to the place inside where my mind says if there is no time, then are we living parallel lives instead of reincarnated lives?
