Perry Marshall – Cosmic Fingerprints – Intelligent Design
Perry Marshall declares on his site Cosmic Fingerprints, that he can prove the existence of God. Perry has thoughts about Intelligent Design and the Big Bang theory. This video conversation took some interesting twists and turns about theology, new age thought and the possibility of alien beings. We even got around to purpose. This is a compelling interview that everyone would benefit in watching.
Michelle, you really did your homework in preparing for it.
It is such a deep subject and yet you held your ground with your intelligent questions.
I came away with the need to bookmark, explore his site and listen over and over.
I think I “got it” but then I wonder – am I getting this at a brain level or at a higher cosmic space?

This was the most interesting interview, one to listen to several times, challenging to wrap my head around. While I was listening, wondering what kind of question one would ask to get to the meat of the subject, you had it. Intelligent and thought provoking. Thanks for interviews that challenge me to think outside of the box.
This is more than I have ever thought about. However, if the ‘law of physics’ created a snow flake; then why not the ‘biology’ that inhabits the earth? I believe that ‘human beings’ have such large ‘egos’ we would like to believe we can interpret and explain everything! We keep trying to fill our infinite hunger; finding answers that satisfy this hunger is a quest that will always bring answers that will never quite hit the mark; or, be fully accepted or understood.
Our moral reality is reflected in condition of the planet! Starkly lacking! I recently watched ‘The End of The Line’ (http://endoftheline.com/); just one of many documentaries that reflects our ‘moral reality’!
The problem with your question, Gailstrail, is that the laws of physics don’t create information. Therefore, because information is what makes biology possible, and the laws of physics don’t create information, biology will NEVER be created by mistake. Sorry, but this question is invalid.
This whole conversation so far, I’m 27minutes into it, is taking for granted the concept of one God. That the God that created the universe is the same one that created man. It might be good to at least question this assumption.
One thing that strikes me is that it would be helpful for Perry to define what he means by “God”. God has a plan for us? Who is this God? Is this the “God” that created us or the “God” that created the “GODs” that created us? I’ve been working on this question myself for a while and I don’t currently believe that they are one in the same.
Why would “intelligence” go to all the trouble of creating all of this? Perhaps we are their little science experiment. We are tinkering with creating life ourselves. Who is to say some other beings, seen as Gods, aren’t just much further along the learning curve?
Have you ever been exposed to the Urantia book?
The Bible says we were created by the Elohim. Elohim was translated as “God” but from what I’ve read really means “those that came from the sky”. That stops me in my tracks and puts a very interesting spin on things. Have you heard or read much from Zecharia Sitchin? I find the little I’ve learned from him to be absolutely fascinating.
How is it that primitive people instinctively knew which plants were food and which poison? If it’s trial and error it seems to me we would not be here right now.
Why are humans the only creatures that need clothing to deal with the elements? If one believes in evolution something appears to have gone terribly wrong along the way. By all rights we should have developed thick coats of fur not shed them as we are told has happened.
I didn’t “evolve” from a monkey and I’m certainly not ready to just accept that I came from Adam and Eve. Even the Bible seems to indicate Adam and Eve were not the first inhabitants of the earth.
Question Everything – that’s where I am, how about you?
Oh, and don’t even get me started on Angels.
Oh Yeah? Then you haven’t had the opportunity of experiencing an encounter. Many people have. Some people’s lives are so concentrated with other different things, that they won’t recognize angelic happenings when they occur. Some people apparently don’t get any.
I give you both kudos for addresses such big philosophical/theological issues… ones that I think many of us struggle with either late into the night by ourselves or with our close, intimate friends. It takes another level of passion and intelligence to broadcast!
I like the metaphor of the symphony, of choosing our instrument and perhaps even our own playing style and yet having our part to play that harmonizes with a larger group. I’m going to have to take some time to digest all the rest!!! LOL Thanks for opening up Pandora’s Box!

@Gail You are right. We always try to explain everything. It is the biggest mystery, and I want to know! probably never will ‘know’ exactly how we got here, but it’s fun learning about all the possibilities.
@Steve I think Perry is saying that NO, there are 2 different occasions that created the earth and then a second one that created man. He’s got lots of info over on his site. You ask some great questions and I hope to have Perry back for some follow up!

The best proof of the existence of God is our innate urge towards knowing/loving God. Proving the existence of God is another question. Proof can only be given of an object, and God is the Eternal Subject. And those who are not ready for the spiritual ascent will find all kinds of reasons, often against reason, to deny God’s existence. But all will work out in the end, even for the most obtuse, even if it takes ages of creations to wake up.

I am totally open to the possibility that the same laws of physics that make snowflakes also make life. But in researching this for 5 years I find *no* evidence that this is the case. Snowflakes can happen anywhere as long as the conditions are right. Life only comes from life. Information only comes from intelligence.

Just as there can be only one president of a country, I believe there can be only one God of the universe.
In regards to Urantia and names of God, I think it would be very insightful to study the MANY names for God in the Bible. They all clearly refer to one God but describe many attributes. Not familiar with Sitchin.
Clothing: It’s one thing to need it to deal with the elements but more significant I think is the shame of nakedness. We are distinctly different from animals in that regard. In Genesis 1 it says, “And they were naked and unashamed.” I think that one sentence speaks volumes about the human condition. I think shame is the core negative emotion of all.

Perry’s viewpoints remind me of Amit Goswami. He takes a nice causal approach to much of life and spirituality, coming from quantum physics but similar. Cool stuff!

If the origin of the entire dispute is genesis 1, I’ll say this,
A Firmament is the resolve. It is the visible verification that declares the truth of God’s testament, His hands work. Our inability to clearly see the firmament however, is the dilemma to our unity. It has been lost in translation and we have fallen away to the origin of the universe as if it is the proclamation of His account.
The statement of faith is God of the universe, meaning; He created the universe in X amount of days. But not according to the source of the entire dispute, that has become the great debate and a public display of controversy, speculation and confusion that ‘truth’ would not be the author of.
Consider this; regardless of ‘how’ the origin of the universe became; whether it evolved or whether a God created it, either way, it only evolved to a huge formless and void mass of rock, suspended in space, covered entirely with water, from which the documented record of the account begins…
Therefore, the true question is this: What are we believing a God to have made, relevant to our existence here on this planet He called the ‘dry’ earth? It can’t be the universe…
Because until or unless a firmament was made in the midst of the waters (an alleged mystery) this huge mass of rock would STILL be formless and void, suspended in space under water and furthermore, in a state or condition that was impossible to sustain life as we know it here on this planet to date, thereby rendering mans history nonexistent.
Anything prior to this divide is irrelevant to the possibility of mans inhabitance. Nor is there any such record to testify of anything prior to this formless and void condition of the planet or the universe…
The firmament is the visible verification that declares the beginning of the creation of the heaven and the earth; not the universe.

Browsing posts to this site is discouraging. All ignore that the Genesis 1 creation was lost as a return to chaos by its Creator. The resuting planets “prove” a 4.5 billion year lapse from the “very good” at 7 AU to the world we know.
Evolution: ever thought of the structure of this word?
It has come from Eve meaning “life” in Hebrew, mother of all living. Note that this name was given (for naming) by Adam AFTER the fall from grace.
Now think about ..In the beginning God CREATED…
It doesn’t say evolved.
The Hebrew word is ברא or bara. If you take these 3 letters and put together their individual meanings:
Beyt ב family, house (of God)
Resh ר first, beginning, top
Aleph א strong, power, leader
Let’s now put this together:
Created means it was the first, it was powerful and from the family or house (of God).
It wasn’t fallen or second in any manner. It is the top.
How amazing is that word created.
Create well then with Spiritual blessing. Don’t be 2nd best!
Wait (in hope) for the transformation (μεταμορφω in the Greek where we get the word metamorphosis).
This is sudden, instant, powerful. It can’t evolve. But the spirit of each and everyone one of us can be perfected in the meantime for that right time and place of this event.
